Enjoy two pillars of Tuscan culture merging for a sensational day with this classic gourmet food and wine Tuscany day tour.
This private wine tour from Florence starts with a visit to a medieval castle with a prestigious winery for some of the best wine tasting in Italy. As always with our Tuscany Wine tours, Alma Italia will take you on an exclusive, private visit, picking you up from your hotel and escorting you through the most beautiful Italian countryside imaginable.
Led by an expert guide, we will introduce you to the history of the estate and the family that has managed it and the winery for generations. After visiting the wine cellar you will then try their exquisite wines. This is unique vineyard wine tasting experience not to be missed!
The wine tasting is accompanied by Tuscan ham, wild boar salami, local cheese with lemon zest, finocchiona (a typical salami flavoured with fennel seeds), and other local delicacies. You will also taste the estates organic Extravergine olive oil and “Balsamic vinegar” on pecorino (sheep cheese).
After a stroll around the estate a traditional Tuscan lunch will be served and may include for example Pasta with tomato sauce and Chianti herbs. Grilled sausages and rosticciana (pork ribs) or roast pork loin with side dishes from our garden. Farm cake and Cantuccini (almond cookies) and Coffee.
After lunch we will take you to a second award winning vineyard with a totally different atmosphere. This vineyard established in 1945 (relatively new for Italy!) is known for its innovation and quality. You will be able to admire the Historic Vineyard and the Experimental one. The state-of-the-art technology in the vinification cellar contrasts with the Historic one, filled with large casks and barriques. The tour ends in the “Vinsantaia”, where one of Chianti Classico’s iconic products slowly matures: Vinsanto, (sweet wine) obtained using the traditional method. The visit is followed by a tasting of wines four wines and a few more snacks if you can manage to fit anything in!
Your Alma Italia driver will transport you back to your hotel and can suggest dinner venues or sight seeing activites for the evening.
